BYD said it plans to introduce its Flash Charging network in Australia and New Zealand, with the first charging sites expected to open by the end of the year.
The expansion will coincide with the regional launch of the Denza Z9 GT in the third quarter. The model is among the first global vehicles from BYD to feature the company’s second-generation Blade Battery technology designed to support ultra-fast Flash Charging.

According to news.com.au reports, BYD plans to establish three Flash Charging stations in Australia during the initial rollout phase, beginning in October. The sites will be located at selected Denza showrooms in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. The company said additional Flash Chargers would later be installed at BYD dealerships as the network expands.
In New Zealand, BYD also intends to deploy the high-output chargers initially at Denza dealerships, although the company has not yet disclosed specific locations or rollout plans, evsandbeyond.co.nz reported.

Last month, Diego Pareschi, director of EV charging at BYD Europe, said the automaker planned to expand its Flash Charging infrastructure into Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. BYD aims to establish 6,000 Flash Charging stations across international markets within the next 12 months, including around 3,000 units in Europe.
BYD demonstrated the technology publicly in Paris during the European launch of the Denza Z9 GT earlier in April. The showcased charger had a rated output of 2 megawatts (MW), allowing simultaneous charging of two electric vehicles at 1MW each or a single vehicle at up to 1.5MW.

Pareschi said the European version of the Denza Z9 GT would be capable of charging its 122.49-kilowatt-hour battery pack from 10% to 70% state of charge in five minutes and from 10% to 90% in nine minutes.
In China, BYD has been accelerating deployment of compatible infrastructure and vehicle upgrades across its brands. At the launch of the BYD Han EV Flash Charging Edition in April, Lu Tian, general manager of sales for BYD’s Dynasty series, said the company had already built more than 5,500 Flash Charging stations covering 311 cities nationwide.
