BYD has introduced the Sealion 7 in India, strengthening its portfolio in one of the world’s fastest-growing EV markets. The electric SUV was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi on January 18, with bookings now open. Local deliveries are set to begin in March, according to the company.
The Sealion 7, a rebranded version of the Sealion 07 sold in China, comes in two variants: the Premium, with a single-motor rear-wheel drive, and the Performance, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel drive.

The SUV measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm. Both variants use BYD’s advanced blade battery technology with a capacity of 82.56 kWh.
The Premium model offers 230 kW of peak power and 380 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. The Performance variant delivers a combined peak power of 390 kW and 690 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. The driving range stands at 567 kilometers for the Premium model and 542 kilometers for the Performance model under NEDC standards.

Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the Sealion 7 integrates advanced battery and powertrain technology. The model, aimed at competing with Tesla’s Model Y, debuted in China in 2024 with a starting price of RMB 189,800 ($25,940).
The Sealion 7 is BYD’s fourth model in India, following the eMax 7, Seal, and Atto 3. The company also showcased the Sealion 6, its first plug-in hybrid vehicle in India, and the luxury Yangwang U8 SUV at the expo. The hybrid Sealion 6, based on BYD’s DM-i technology, boasts a combined range of over 1,000 kilometers on a full charge and tank.
