BYD launches Dolphin for the Colombian market, range up to 405 km

Electric vehicle manufacturer from China, BYD, has collaborated with a distributor from Colombia, MOTORYSA to launch BYD Dolphin in the country. This fully electric car will be included in the “Ocean” model range and will be exhibited at Colombian Fashion Week.

BYD Dolphin is said to be the first mass-produced model to be based on BYD’s e-platform 3.0. This sleek electric vehicle is equipped with a BYD blade battery with a battery capacity of 44.9kW. The battery pack also provides BYD Dolphin with a NEDC pure electric range of up to 405 km.

During the unveiling, a company spokesperson revealed that the Dolphin is BYD’s “new species of pure electric car” specially made for a new generation of young users and adopts the design concept of “marine aesthetics”.

The shape of the Dolphin EV looks very simple but still looks stylish and sporty. The interior lines have a soft feel with unique finishes and of course with a beautiful futuristic style. The price of EVs in the country has not yet been disclosed.

Starting in 2020, BYD began partnering with domestic car dealer MOTORYSA to sell a wide range of new energy passenger vehicles in Colombia, including the flagship mid- and large-size luxury sedan, the Han EV, and the pure electric luxury SUV, Tang EV, and Qin PLUS. DM-i and the advanced plug-in hybrid model, Song PLUS. So far, BYD has delivered nearly 3,000 new electric vehicles to Colombia.
