BYD has launched the Denza N8L Flash-Charging Edition in China, expanding its premium vehicle lineup with a large six-seat plug-in hybrid SUV equipped with the company’s latest charging, battery and intelligent driving technologies.
The model, introduced under BYD’s premium Denza brand, is available in two variants priced from RMB 319,800 ($47,120) and RMB 349,800. The launch price is lower than the pre-sale pricing announced in April, which started at RMB 350,000.
Customer deliveries began on June 24.
Large Family-Oriented SUV
The Denza N8L Flash-Charging Edition replaces the standard N8L version that debuted in October 2025.
The SUV measures 5,200 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm. It features a 2+2+2 seating configuration designed to accommodate six occupants.
BYD is positioning the model toward the family vehicle segment, where it competes with models including the Li Auto L8 and the Huawei-backed Aito M8.
800V Charging System and Blade Battery
A key upgrade is the adoption of BYD’s 800-volt flash-charging platform combined with the company’s second-generation Blade Battery, which has a capacity of 75.26 kWh.
According to BYD, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 70% state of charge in approximately five minutes when connected to compatible BYD flash-charging stations. Charging from 10% to 97% can be completed in about nine minutes.
The company said charging performance remains relatively stable in low-temperature conditions, with charging times increasing by around three minutes at temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius.
The vehicle offers a CLTC-rated battery-electric driving range of 430 kilometres and a combined driving range of up to 1,550 kilometres with a full battery charge and fuel tank.
Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain
The N8L Flash-Charging Edition uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid engine paired with a three-motor electric drive system.
The combustion engine produces up to 152 kW, while total system output reaches 560 kW.
BYD said the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds.
Advanced Driver-Assistance Features
The vehicle comes standard with BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 advanced driver-assistance system.
The system is powered by a single Nvidia Orin-X processor delivering 254 TOPS of computing performance and incorporates one LiDAR sensor alongside 30 additional sensors.
Functions include highway navigation assistance, urban navigation assistance and automated parking capabilities.
The N8L also features BYD’s e3 intelligent vehicle control platform and the DiSus-A intelligent air suspension system, enabling functions such as crab walking, extreme steering manoeuvres and compass-style turning.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the SUV features a six-screen digital cockpit arrangement, including a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display and a 17.3-inch central infotainment screen.
The vehicle is equipped with Nappa leather seats featuring heating, ventilation and massage functions.
Expanding Denza Portfolio
The launch continues BYD’s strategy of updating existing models with new technologies as competition intensifies in China’s premium new energy vehicle market.
The introduction follows the launch of the Denza N9 Flash-Charging Edition in May, further expanding the brand’s portfolio of premium electrified SUVs.
