BYD has entered the Croatian passenger car market, introducing four new energy vehicle (NEV) models as part of its ongoing European growth strategy.

At a launch event held on April 23 in Zagreb, the Chinese automaker debuted the Seal, Sealion 7 EV (marketed locally as the Sealion 07 EV), Seal U EV (Song Plus EV), and Seal U DM-i (Song Plus DM-i), according to BYD Europe and a brief Weibo post accompanied by promotional images.

BYD plans to establish a local presence in Croatia with two dealership stores and a repair facility in Zagreb, as confirmed by the Chinese Embassy in Croatia.

The move comes amid a flurry of market entries by BYD across Europe. In March, the company launched five models, including the Sealion 07, Atto 2, Atto 3, Seal, and Seal U DM-i, in Serbia. On April 1, it entered Switzerland, followed by Czechia and Slovakia on April 16, offering a similar mix of models tailored for local branding.

BYD’s steady rollout across the region underscores its ambition to challenge incumbent automakers in Europe with competitively priced NEVs backed by a growing network of retail and service infrastructure.
