China’s electric vehicle leader, BYD, has entered into a comprehensive global agreement with Stingray, a Canadian music, media, and tech enterprise, to seamlessly integrate Stingray’s acclaimed karaoke product into select new energy vehicle (NEV) models, according to a joint press release issued by both entities.

This strategic partnership entails the integration of Stingray’s interactive karaoke solution as a pre-installed application within BYD’s popular vehicle models, initially catering to a dozen countries starting this year. The collaboration outlines plans for expanding this feature across additional markets in the coming years.

Stingray Karaoke, designed to be an integrated aspect of BYD’s infotainment system, will offer multilingual compatibility, presenting a complimentary feature accessible to all BYD vehicle owners, as conveyed by a statement from Stingray.

To prioritize safety, both BYD and Stingray have implemented a mechanism that deactivates the karaoke lyrics’ scrolling function on the central console while the vehicle is in motion, ensuring customer safety.

Additionally, the partnership has yielded a Passenger App, allowing passengers to engage with the karaoke experience via their personal mobile devices. This application empowers users to view lyrics, control song selection, and manage playback functions, all while the audio is streamed through the vehicle’s sound system.

Stingray Karaoke is gaining prominence as an appealing value-added amenity for electric vehicles globally. The service has already been integrated into all Tesla and VinFast vehicle models and is anticipated to be introduced in select Audi vehicles in the foreseeable future, as indicated by the Canadian company.

BYD, known as a prominent player in China’s NEV sector, achieved a significant feat by recording sales of 262,161 new energy vehicles during July, as outlined in data released earlier this month.

During the January-July period, BYD accomplished the sale of 1,517,798 NEVs, reflecting an impressive 88.81 percent year-on-year increase and attaining 50 percent of its annual target.

In the context of international market expansion, BYD realized sales of 18,169 NEVs in overseas markets in July, marking a substantial 72.45 percent surge compared to the preceding month’s figure of 10,536 units.
