Buick announces to going fully electric by 2030

Another conventional vehicle brand announced their electrification strategy. Buick, a brand under General Motors announced that it will become an electric vehicle manufacturer by 2030.

Buick’s future electric vehicles will be sold under the Electra label and use General Motors’ Ultium platform.

Buick’s first electric vehicle for the North American market is planned for 2024. Buick not only launches a new model with electric drive, but makes electric versions of the vehicle models they already produce.

In addition, Buick also introduced a new logo that is sleeker and fresher. The new logo will be installed on cars as soon as next year; the current logo is from 1990.

The new, sleeker logo looks fresher and more modern. Buick also announced a preview of the Wildcat EV electric concept car, the 2+2 coupé. Buick did not provide further details about their concept car.

“The Buick brand is committed to an all-electric future by the end of this decade. Buick’s new logo, use of the Electra naming series and a new design look for our future products will transform the brand.” says Duncan Aldred, global vice president, Buick and GMC.

For the Chinese market, Buick will introduce five new electric vehicles by 2025. Two of them will be launched this year. Buick’s EV portfolio in China will cover the MPV, SUV and sedan segments.
