bp pulse has partnered with IAG Loyalty to enable electric vehicle drivers in the UK to earn Avios points when charging their vehicles, becoming the first EV charging network in the country to offer the popular travel rewards currency.
The initiative covers bp pulse’s network of more than 3,000 rapid and ultra-fast charging points across the UK and is designed to integrate EV charging into everyday loyalty and rewards programmes.
Earn Avios While Charging
Under the new programme, members of The British Airways Club can collect Avios points based on their charging spend.
Customers who pay using a contactless payment card registered with Avios can earn two Avios for every pound spent on eligible charging sessions.
Drivers who use the bp pulse app or subscribe to a bp pulse charging plan can earn up to four Avios per pound spent, provided their payment card is registered with both Avios and the bp pulse platform.
Expanding Loyalty Benefits for EV Drivers
The partnership reflects growing efforts to enhance the electric vehicle ownership experience through rewards and loyalty programmes.
Avios serves as the loyalty currency for several major airlines, including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, Qatar Airways, Finnair and Loganair.
Points collected through charging sessions can be redeemed across a broad range of travel, retail and financial service partners.
Supporting the EV Transition
bp pulse says the collaboration aims to add value for drivers as electric vehicle adoption continues to accelerate across the UK.
“As EV adoption continues to grow, this partnership adds further value to the charging experience – giving customers a simple way to collect Avios as part of their everyday journeys,” said Valerio Ferro, General Manager of bp pulse UK.
“bp pulse has become the first EV charging network to offer Avios and we’re delighted to be able to reward drivers as they transition to EVs.”
Turning Daily Charging into Rewards
IAG Loyalty said the agreement creates another opportunity for customers to earn rewards through routine activities.
“By linking EV charging with Avios, we’re giving members another way to turn everyday activity into meaningful rewards,” said Rob McDonald, Chief Commercial Officer at IAG Loyalty.
Growing Competition in EV Charging Services
As charging infrastructure operators compete for customers, loyalty programmes are becoming an increasingly important differentiator alongside charging speed, reliability and network coverage.
By combining public charging with travel rewards, bp pulse hopes to encourage greater engagement with its charging network while offering additional incentives for EV drivers.
The move highlights how charging providers are increasingly integrating mobility, digital services and customer rewards as the electric vehicle market matures.
