BP has agreed to sell its Austrian retail fuel network, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and fleet business to Volenergy, continuing its strategy to streamline operations across Europe.
The transaction covers approximately 250 fuel stations, BP’s EV charging assets and its associated fleet services business in Austria. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the company did not reveal how many EV charging stations are included in the sale.

Completion Expected by End of 2026
BP said the transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
The sale follows the company’s announcement last year that it planned to exit its Austrian fuel retail and charging operations. At the time, BP had targeted completion of the divestment by the end of 2025, although the process has taken longer than initially anticipated.
Part of Broader European Divestment Strategy
The Austrian transaction is the latest step in BP’s restructuring of its downstream retail business across Europe.
Earlier this year, the company completed the sale of its fuel retail and electric vehicle charging operations in the Netherlands to energy company Catom.
By divesting selected fuel station and charging assets, BP continues to reshape its European portfolio while other energy and mobility companies expand their presence in retail fuel distribution and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The company has not announced any additional details regarding the future operation of the Austrian charging network once ownership transfers to Volenergy.
