Bosch eBike Systems has unveiled updated versions of its Cargo Line, Performance Line Speed, and Performance Line drive units at the Eurobike trade fair in Germany this week. The enhancements bring more torque, increased power output, and quieter, lighter designs, underscoring Bosch’s continued investment in e-bike innovation.
The revised Cargo Line motor now delivers up to 100 Newton meters of torque—up from 85 Nm—and a peak power output of 750 watts, replacing the previous 600-watt model. Weighing just 2.8 kilograms, the unit is approximately 100 grams lighter and also operates more quietly. Designed for electric cargo bikes, it includes features such as a pushing aid, hill start assist, and a new Cargo mode that provides up to 400% pedal assistance.
Meanwhile, Bosch’s Performance Line Speed drive unit, intended for S-pedelecs capable of reaching 45 km/h, also receives a boost to 100 Nm of torque and 750 watts of maximum power. Like the Cargo Line, it too is lighter by about 100 grams. It offers a “Limit Mode” that allows users to cap speed at 25 km/h for urban bike path compliance, aligning with regulations in Germany and other European countries.
Bosch also introduced its upgraded PowerTube 540 battery, now offering 540 watt-hours of energy without any increase in weight over the previous 500 Wh version. The battery can be combined with the PowerMore 250 range extender, bringing the total capacity to nearly 800 watt-hours. The company emphasizes the new unit’s compliance with high safety standards.
Bosch’s eBike drive systems are currently featured in over 1,700 electric bicycle models globally, including those by brands such as Gazelle, Cannondale, and Riese & Müller. Although Bosch exited electric car battery production, it remains active in e-bike systems and has also invested in battery recycling ventures.
