BMW has introduced the iX3 M60 xDrive, the most powerful version of its Neue Klasse electric SUV to date. The new all-wheel-drive model delivers 450 kW of system output and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
BMW plans to open order books at the end of January 2027, with production scheduled to begin at its Debrecen plant in Hungary in spring 2027. Pricing has not yet been announced.
BMW iX3 M60 xDrive Tops the Neue Klasse Lineup
The iX3 M60 xDrive joins three existing variants: the rear-wheel-drive iX3 40 and the all-wheel-drive iX3 40 xDrive and iX3 50 xDrive.
The new model shares its powertrain configuration with planned M60 xDrive versions of the BMW i3 and iX4, which are also expected to arrive in 2027.
The iX3 M60 xDrive produces 450 kW and 875 Nm of torque. Its top speed is 240 km/h, compared with 210 km/h for the iX3 50 xDrive.
108.7 kWh Battery Supports Up to 754 km of Range
The performance variant uses a 108.7 kWh net battery, the same capacity fitted to the iX3 50 xDrive.
BMW quotes a range of up to 754 km for the M60 xDrive. This is lower than the iX3 50 xDrive’s maximum claimed range of 806 km, reflecting the different performance configurations.
The new model supports DC charging at up to 400 kW. According to BMW, charging from 10% to 80% takes 21 minutes under suitable conditions. The manufacturer also states that a 10-minute charging stop can add enough energy for approximately 340 km of driving.

M Suspension and Dedicated Drive Control
The iX3 M60 xDrive comes with BMW’s adaptive M Suspension as standard, along with the M Sport exterior package, distinctive wheel arches, black mirror caps and 21-inch light-alloy wheels. Optional wheels measure up to 22 inches.
The model also features BMW’s M Yellow Lights, which use a motorsport-inspired lighting design.
For drivetrain and vehicle control, BMW has integrated its Heart of Joy central drive computer with M Dynamic Performance Control software. According to the company, Heart of Joy operates ten times faster than previous systems and is designed to coordinate vehicle dynamics more rapidly.
BMW says the combination is intended to support the model’s handling and performance characteristics.
Production Planned for Hungary
The iX3 measures 4.78 metres long, 1.90 metres wide and 1.64 metres tall, with a wheelbase of 2.90 metres.
All current iX3 variants are produced at BMW’s Debrecen facility in Hungary. The company is preparing to expand production to Mexico from 2027 and plans to introduce a locally produced long-wheelbase iX3 for China.
The M60 xDrive will join production at Debrecen in spring 2027, ahead of the planned opening of customer orders at the end of January.
