BMW has entered the watersports market through a partnership with Slovenian manufacturer SipaBoards to launch an electric stand-up paddleboard (e-SUP). The BMW x SipaBoards features an integrated motor, self-inflating design, and digital connectivity, combining electric mobility with recreational innovation. The design was developed in collaboration with BMW Group Designworks.

The e-SUP integrates a 300-watt electric motor that can propel the board at speeds of up to 7.5 km/h (4 knots). The motor also automatically inflates the board before use and operates with minimal noise and zero emissions.

Energy is supplied by swappable battery modules, available in two configurations to provide between one and seven hours of operating time depending on setup. Control is managed through a Bluetooth remote integrated into a carbon-fiber paddle, with additional features accessible via a companion mobile app for GPS tracking, route planning, and battery monitoring.

Built around a durable X-woven drop-stitch core, the board offers structural rigidity and stability. Safety is enhanced through an automatic power cut-off system that stops the motor if the paddle is dropped into the water.

The design accommodates two riders and reflects the styling cues of BMW’s Neue Klasse models. A click-and-connect mounting system supports accessories such as cameras and lights, while LED illumination beneath the board aids visibility in low-light conditions. The product will be available in spring 2026, with standard and extended battery options.
