BMW reported global deliveries of 102,864 fully electric vehicles in the third quarter of 2025, marking the sixth consecutive quarter in which the German automaker achieved six-figure EV sales. The figure represents a 0.6% decline compared with the 103,440 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) delivered during the same period last year, according to the company’s statement.

The result places BMW ahead of its premium rival Mercedes-Benz in battery-electric sales, though slightly below its own performance in the first half of the year, when it delivered 109,516 and 111,027 BEVs in the first and second quarters, respectively. Despite the dip, BMW’s cumulative electric vehicle sales for the first nine months of 2025 reached 323,447 units — up 10% year-on-year — giving the group an EV share of 17.5% in the latest quarter.

Including plug-in hybrids, BMW sold 470,313 electrified vehicles by the end of September, representing a 15% increase from the same period a year earlier. In the third quarter alone, the automaker delivered 48,418 plug-in hybrids, maintaining a roughly 2:1 ratio of BEV to PHEV sales. Across all powertrains, the BMW brand recorded deliveries of 514,620 vehicles, a 5.7% rise from a year earlier. Mini posted a 37.5% increase to 72,376 units, while Rolls-Royce deliveries grew 13.3% to 1,304 luxury cars.

“The BMW Group reported a slight sales increase for the year to the end of September,” said Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands and Sales. “The strong sales performance in Europe and the Americas, as well as for the Mini brand, is particularly encouraging. Demand for our wide range of electrified vehicles also remains strong.” However, the company noted that “the targeted sales increase in the Chinese market did not materialise as expected.”

The new platform marks a strategic shift for BMW toward dedicated EV architectures, featuring 800-volt electrical systems, cylindrical battery cells, and sixth-generation electric motors aimed at improving efficiency and performance.
