BMW, the renowned Bavarian automaker, is gearing up to bolster its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio with a range of new models, according to credible insider information. The company’s strategic move towards electrification is set to include the introduction of a new i3 sedan, alongside enhanced versions of the iX3, iX4, and iX5 SUVs.
As reported by a reputable source on the Bimmerpost forum, the upcoming next-generation i3 (NA0) and iX3 (NA5) will be available in a variety of configurations, including the 40, 40 xDrive, 50, 50xDrive, and M60 xDrive trims. The closely related iX4 (NA7) is expected to come exclusively in all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions, namely the 40 xDrive, 50 xDrive, and M60 xDrive. Finally, the larger next-generation BMW iX5 (G65) is reportedly set to be offered in 50 xDrive and M70 xDrive versions.
The eagerly anticipated BMW iX3 (NA5) is slated for production between July 2025 and October 2033. However, its availability in markets outside of Europe is expected to see a slight delay until spring 2026. This fully electric SUV is poised to introduce a host of innovative features that are likely to trickle down into other BMW models. Notable additions include the standard inclusion of the new BMW Panoramic Vision interface and multifunction massaging seats. Staying true to BMW’s tradition, the iX3 will benefit from distinctive M exterior and interior features. Furthermore, consumers can look forward to the arrival of BMW’s Augmented Reality glasses in 2027.
The insider’s revelations also encompassed the production timelines of other BMW models. Notably, the BMW X6 is expected to conclude production earlier than initially planned, with a proposed end date of December 27, 2027, instead of March 2028. In a shift towards electrification, the next-generation M5 (G90), anticipated to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain, is set to remain in production until February 2031. Meanwhile, the current generation of the BMW 7-Series (G70) is expected to undergo a facelift in July 2026, with an armored i7 xDrive60 Protection model becoming available from July 2025.
