Bidfood Netherlands is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) fleet with an additional 25 Renault Trucks E-Tech electric units by the end of the current quarter. This follows a successful partnership that began in 2021 with the integration of Renault’s electric trucks into Bidfood’s logistics operations. With the new order, Bidfood’s fleet of electric Renault trucks will reach 50 units by spring 2025, contributing significantly to the company’s sustainability goals.

Bidfood, a leading wholesale supplier in the hotel and catering industry, operates a large fleet of approximately 400 trucks across 18 locations in the Netherlands. The decision to expand its electric fleet is part of Bidfood’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and meeting increasing customer demands for sustainable practices. Dick Slootweg, Managing Director of Bidfood Netherlands, emphasized that the transition to electromobility is no longer a distant goal but a practical and effective reality for the company.

Renault Trucks has played a key role in supporting Bidfood’s fleet electrification, with both companies working together over the past three years to address the operational challenges of integrating electric vehicles into the logistics sector. Jérôme Berthelet, Managing Director of Renault Trucks Netherlands, highlighted the collaboration’s success in developing customized solutions that align with Bidfood’s decarbonization objectives.

The latest order from Bidfood is particularly significant for Renault Trucks, as it marks the production of its 2,000th electric truck at its Blainville-sur-Orne manufacturing plant.

This facility, which was the first in Europe to produce electric trucks in series, has been manufacturing the E-Tech D and E-Tech D Wide medium-duty electric models since March 2020. The 2,000th unit, now part of the Bidfood fleet, underscores Renault’s growing leadership in the electric commercial vehicle market.
