SAIC-GM-Wuling’s Baojun brand continues its stride in the electric vehicle (EV) landscape by introducing its latest offering, the Yunduo. The compact EV was officially unveiled at a launch event, marking the second model released by the brand this year. With the Yunduo’s entry, Baojun aims to vie for attention amidst rivals like BYD’s Dolphin and Volkswagen’s ID.3.
The Baojun Yunduo arrives in the market with four distinct versions, each catering to a different set of preferences and requirements. Prices for these versions commence at RMB 95,800 ($13,270) and gradually rise to RMB 123,800. A notable addition is a variant equipped with the advanced Lingxi smart driving system, jointly developed by SAIC-GM-Wuling and drone manufacturer DJI. While pricing for this version is yet to be disclosed, reservations commenced on launch day, with deliveries projected to commence in October.
The Yunduo swiftly gained traction, with over 5,000 units ordered on the launch night itself, according to the brand’s announcement. Measuring 4,295 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height, the Yunduo boasts a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
Comparatively, the BYD Dolphin, one of its competitors, presents dimensions of 4,125 / 4,150 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a similar wheelbase of 2,700 mm. The BYD Dolphin offers three variants, starting from RMB 116,800 and reaching up to RMB 136,800.
Under the hood, the Baojun Yunduo features a motor capable of generating a peak power of 100 kW and a peak torque of 200 Nm. Its energy is sourced from lithium iron phosphate batteries, with pack capacities of 37.9 kWh and 37.9 kWh. This configuration provides the Yunduo with two variants: one offering a CLTC range of 360 km, and the other extending that range to 460 km.
