Mobility company Ayvens said on Thursday it will begin issuing state-of-health (SoH) certificates for used electric vehicles in Europe, a step aimed at increasing transparency and trust in the growing second-hand EV market.
The certificates will be provided through Ayvens Carmarket, the trading platform launched last year to sell cars from its leasing fleet to professional dealers. The programme will start in Czechia, Finland, France, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands before expanding to most other European markets in the coming months. Ayvens Carmarket currently operates in 38 countries.
The SoH certificates show the current battery capacity compared to the original level, using diagnostics carried out by accredited firms certified by the European Car Remarketing Association (CARA). These diagnostics rely on data from the vehicle’s battery management system, which tracks voltage, temperature, charging history and usable capacity.
“Battery performance is a key concern for customers considering the purchase of a used EV. With this SoH certification, Ayvens offers more transparency and helps clients to buy with confidence, while supporting a growing second-hand EV market and the transition to electric mobility,” said Frédéric Van Heems, Ayvens’ Group Remarketing Business Line Director.
Ayvens, which manages around 600,000 EVs in 42 countries, has recently signed several European partnerships. Earlier this month it teamed up with Plugsurfing to develop a charging app covering six markets, while last year Chinese automaker BYD appointed Ayvens as its leasing partner in parts of Europe. Stellantis also works with Ayvens to expand its EV leasing operations.
