AVILOO has appointed automotive industry veteran Brett Lippel as Chief Executive Officer of its North American operations, strengthening the company’s efforts to expand independent electric vehicle battery diagnostics across the United States.
The Austria-based company, which specializes in manufacturer-independent battery testing for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, said Lippel will lead growth initiatives across dealerships, fleet operators, remarketing partners, and automotive manufacturers. The appointment comes as battery health becomes an increasingly important factor in the growing used EV market.
Founded near Vienna in 2018, AVILOO launched its U.S. operations from Denver, Colorado, in 2024. The company provides battery diagnostic services designed to assess the condition of EV batteries independently from vehicle manufacturers, offering standardized battery health reports aimed at increasing transparency for buyers and sellers.
Industry Veteran Takes Charge of U.S. Growth
Lippel brings more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning the automotive, mobility, logistics, fintech, and software sectors.
His previous roles include Senior Vice President at ShipYourCarNow.com, Chief Executive Officer of Lendgistics, and President of Midway Auto Group. He was also part of the early leadership team at TrueCar during a period of significant growth for the automotive marketplace platform.
AVILOO said Lippel’s experience and industry network will support the company’s efforts to expand battery diagnostics services throughout North America.
Marcus Berger, Global CEO of AVILOO, highlighted the strategic importance of the appointment.
“We are truly excited that we were able to bring on board a proven expert from the automotive industry with Brett. We can see how passionately he takes on this mission, and we are confident that thanks to his know-how and dedication, we will make a decisive step toward realizing our goals in the United States.”
Lippel said he sees independent battery certification as an important tool for the future development of the used EV market.
“This new responsibility is incredibly exciting, and I’m glad to be part of the outstanding AVILOO team. I am one hundred percent convinced by the product, and I believe our independent battery certificate is exactly the tool the industry needs to sustainably revolutionize the used EV market in the coming years.”
Focus on Battery Health Transparency
As used electric vehicle sales continue to grow, battery condition is increasingly becoming a key consideration for consumers, dealers, fleet operators, and remarketing businesses.
AVILOO’s battery diagnostics are designed to provide an independent assessment of battery performance rather than relying solely on information available through a vehicle’s onboard Battery Management System (BMS).
The company’s FLASH Test is aimed primarily at dealerships, fleet operators, and remarketing businesses. According to AVILOO, the test can deliver a battery State of Health (SoH) assessment in approximately three minutes and currently supports more than 96% of available EV brands.
For individual vehicle owners and more detailed analysis, AVILOO also offers its PREMIUM Test, which provides a deeper evaluation of battery performance and condition.
The company said its testing methodology and battery certificates have received certification from TÜV and CARA, providing additional validation for the accuracy and reliability of its battery assessments.
Growing Importance of Battery Certification
The appointment reflects broader industry efforts to improve confidence in the used EV market, where battery condition can significantly affect vehicle value, resale prospects, and ownership costs.
As electric vehicle adoption expands globally, independent battery health reporting is increasingly viewed as a tool to help buyers better understand vehicle condition while giving sellers and fleet operators a standardized method of demonstrating battery performance.
With Lippel leading its North American operations, AVILOO aims to accelerate adoption of battery health certification services and strengthen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing electric vehicle markets.
