With the aim of bringing a new generation of electric vans onto the production line faster, Rivian and Mercedes-Benz have entered into a new partnership to scale up their production quickly. The collaboration is expected to result in a vehicle bearing the badges of both automakers. Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn has officially entered the EV industry today, with their first electric car, the Luxgen n7. The Luxgen n7 is a crossover-style car designed and developed in partnership with Foxtron (the automotive division of Foxconn). Luxgen claims this EV car will be the first electric SUV to be priced at an affordable price, which is around $32.75 per unit. CATL, a Chinese electric vehicle battery manufacturer, reported a 164 percent jump in revenue during the second quarter of 2022. The profit figure has doubled when compared to sales in 2021. Ultium Cells, an electric vehicle battery joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution, plans to build its fourth plant in New Carlisle in the US state of Indiana, according to a company spokesman. Ultium Cells has applied for a tax reduction in New Carlisle and expects it to be approved this month, he said. Møller Mobility Group, the importer of Volkswagen cars to Norway, decided to import only all-electric vehicles from 1 January 2024. This means that sales of cars with internal combustion engines and plug-in hybrids will be discontinued.
