Electric vehicles (EVs) are not only environmentally friendly but also offer substantial savings on maintenance. According to new data from The Car Expert, EVs are nearly 30% cheaper to service over five years compared to gasoline, diesel, and hybrid cars. With EV sales in the UK surging 35% in 2025, they now account for over 20% of all new car registrations. Chinese electric vehicle maker Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) said on Monday it received more than 18,000 vehicle orders during China’s Labor Day holiday period, driven by robust demand for its C-series SUVs. Between May 1 and May 5, the company said on Weibo it recorded over 18,000 new orders, including more than 3,700 on May 5 alone. The C11 SUV accounted for 1,099 orders that day, Leapmotor said. Nobina, Scandinavia’s largest public transport operator, has formed a strategic partnership with Munich-based STABL Energy to repurpose decommissioned batteries from its electric bus fleet for use in stationary storage systems. With over 1,000 electric buses in its 5,000-strong fleet, Nobina possesses approximately 500 MWh of battery capacity. The collaboration seeks to implement flexible and resource-efficient solutions by installing these retired batteries in storage systems across Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark, where Nobina operates. Rivian Expands Illinois Facility to Support R2 Production, Remains on Track for 2026 Launch
Rivian’s expansion of its Normal, Illinois, facility is progressing ahead of schedule as the electric vehicle (EV) maker prepares to launch production of its new midsize R2 model in 2026, a company executive said. Segway has introduced the E150S eScooter, an upgraded model designed for urban commuting, featuring a more powerful motor and expandable battery capacity. The vehicle, classified as an L1e-B category scooter, is set to launch in Europe in the second half of 2025.
