Nissan is marking 35 years of production at its Sunderland factory with a one-off electric version of  Nissan Bluebird. Called the Newbird, it has been heavily modified to accommodate the Leaf’s innards. The engine and gearbox make way for a 150bhp electric motor that drives the front wheels, giving a 0-62mph time of just under 15sec. Toyota has finally provided information about the price of their electric car, the bZ4X. Later the car, which will be first sold in the UK, can be ordered next year. South Korean technology company Samsung announced the company’s plans to start production of a new series of chips specifically for electric vehicles. Samsung will develop chips for electric vehicles and self-driving cars. According to Autoevolution, the new products poised to enter mass production in the near future are DDR4 RAM memory, GDDR6 graphics memory, UFS storage chips, and SSDs, all built specifically for electric vehicles. The Nikkei daily reports that Nissan Motor Co Ltd plans to build electric vehicle battery recycling plants in the United States and Europe by the end of fiscal year 2025. “Nissan hopes that recycling batteries and reusing them in electric vehicles (EVs) will help lower production costs as rare metal prices rise,” the Nikkei wrote. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of the United States (US) has now shown interest in electric vehicles. Previously, the US president also ordered to stop selling gasoline cars by 2035.
