Audi has showcased an off-road concept of its Q6 e-tron, featuring advanced portal axles and an elevated design intended to take the SUV’s capabilities to new heights.
The German automaker released photos of the rugged electric vehicle on LinkedIn, teasing its debut in a snow-covered landscape while emphasizing “intelligent performance” and “progress electrified.”

While Audi refrained from providing technical specifications, the off-road concept is likely based on the standard Q6 e-tron quattro, equipped with dual motors producing 285 kW and a 100 kWh battery capable of DC fast charging at up to 270 kW.

The standard model boasts a WLTP range of up to 625 kilometers and a top speed of 210 kph, though these figures are expected to differ significantly in the off-road version due to its modifications, including the portal axles and off-road tires.
The concept’s design highlights function over form, featuring widened wheel arches to accommodate spiked tires, increased ground clearance, and additional lighting elements such as X-shaped headlights and a roof-mounted LED strip. These modifications aim to enhance the SUV’s off-road capabilities and durability.

Audi’s announcement has garnered a mixed response online. While some applauded the innovation and visual appeal of the snowy photoshoot, others expressed skepticism about the automaker’s tendency to develop bold concepts that rarely transition into production. “Why do you put so much effort into concepts and then fail to bring them to market?” one LinkedIn user commented.

The Q6 e-tron off-road concept is not Audi’s first foray into adventurous prototypes. Rival automakers have also explored similar terrain. In 2020, Mercedes-Benz unveiled an off-road study of its EQC SUV featuring portal axles, and in 2022, Volkswagen presented the ID. XTREME concept based on the ID.4, albeit without portal axles. Despite this competitive landscape, Audi has not hinted at plans to produce the Q6 e-tron off-road concept, leaving its future uncertain.
