Audi has recently broadened its range of e-mobility offerings by introducing a limited-edition electric pedal assist mountain bike (eMTB) powered by Fantic, now available through Audi Genuine Accessories. This new addition signifies Audi’s venture into the electric bike market, complementing its existing lineup of electric vehicles.
The Audi eMTB features a design inspired by Audi’s success in the World Rally Championship and the aesthetic of its Dakar Rally-winning RS Q e-tron racecar. It sports a unique livery that reflects Audi’s commitment to performance and innovation.
Developed in collaboration with Italian manufacturer Fantic, the Audi eMTB is based on Fantic’s XEF 1.9 Factory enduro e-bike platform. It boasts a lightweight aluminum frame with a geometry optimized for a comfortable riding position, allowing riders to navigate obstacles and terrain more effectively. The bike’s mixed wheel setup (29-inch front/27.5-inch rear) offers a balance between rollover capability and agility in tight corners.
Equipped with full-suspension design, Mavic tubeless-ready wheels, and Vittoria e-bike-rated off-road tires, the Audi eMTB is designed to tackle a variety of terrains, from bike paths to challenging off-road tracks. The bike features high-quality suspension components with 180mm of travel, including a coil-sprung Ăhlins TTX22m.2 rear shock and an air-sprung Ăhlins RXF38 m.2 fork. The drivetrain consists of a 1×12 setup from SRAM, ensuring smooth and reliable shifting across a wide range of gears.
The Audi eMTB is powered by a 720Wh, 36-volt lithium-ion battery pack integrated into the frame, which supplies power to the Brose S-MAG 250-watt motor. The bike offers four levels of electrical assistance â Eco, Tour, Sport, and Boost â with speeds of up to 20 mph (32 km/h). The range varies between 12 and 90 miles (20-150 km) depending on terrain, rider weight, and the level of assistance used.
The Audi eMTB powered by Fantic is expected to be available this summer, with a starting price of $9,795, excluding local taxes. This move marks Audi’s entry into the world of e-bikes, signaling its intention to participate in the growing e-mobility market.
