After its appearance in 2006, the Audi R8 has become one of the iconic supercars that fascinates automotive enthusiasts. In addition to offering optimal performance, this model is also equipped with an eccentric design compared to other cars.
Now Audi has planned to keep the R8 but by changing direction and making it an electric car.
This was revealed by Linda Kurz, Head of Product Marketing for Audi Sport, in an interview with CNET by mentioning that Audi’s R series brand will switch to the electrification trend.
With the transition from conventional models to electrification, he called this a challenge that they had to face in the midst of the rush of technology in the automotive segment.
“By converting the R-segment to fully electric, this is our task for the next decade,” said Kurz, reported by carscoops.
Although in his statement he only mentioned the R Series model, Kurz refused to say that the Audi R8 model was included in the planning. According to him, the R8 could be maintained but it will use another name for its existence.
