Audi has reintroduced the A6 in two plug-in hybrid versions, now equipped with significantly larger batteries that extend the electric driving range to up to 106 kilometers, according to the WLTP. The new models, dubbed āe-hybrid,ā are available with two power outputs: 220 kW and 270 kW.
The e-hybrid versions are powered by a combination of a two-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 185 kW, while the electric motor contributes up to 105 kW in the higher-output variant, achieving a combined system output of 270 kW. This version can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 5.3 seconds, with 500 Nm of torque. The 220 kW version, with 450 Nm of torque, takes 6.0 seconds to reach the same speed. Both the saloon and estate variants share the same acceleration times.

A key update in the new plug-in hybrid models is the battery, which now offers 45% more capacity than its predecessor, with a total of 25.9 kWh (20.7 kWh net) available for electric driving. This enhancement allows for a longer electric range, making the A6 e-hybrid suitable for daily commutes or longer journeys with minimal fuel consumption. The battery can be charged in 2.5 hours using an 11 kW AC charger, though there is no option for DC fast charging.
The new A6 e-hybrid also features advanced recuperation performance, which can be adjusted in three stages via shift paddles on the steering wheel. Alternatively, the system offers automatic recuperation. Audi has emphasized that the hybrid management system is designed for optimal efficiency and maximum customer comfort, allowing drivers to make the most of the electric range.

The pricing for the A6 e-hybrid in Germany starts at ā¬65,800 for the 220 kW A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro, and ā¬68,300 for the A6 Avant e-hybrid quattro. The higher performance 270 kW version starts at ā¬75,050 for the saloon and ā¬77,550 for the estate.
Originally, the A6 was set to be launched as the A7 in a new naming system for Audiās electric models, with even numbers for electric variants. However, just before the modelās release, Audi’s Board of Management decided to revert to the traditional model names, meaning the A6 and A6 e-tron now share similar names despite being based on different platforms.
