Arcfox, the electric vehicle (EV) brand under Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has officially launched the updated Alpha T5 SUV, marking its entry into the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) segment alongside its existing battery electric vehicle (BEV) models.

The updated Alpha T5, a midsize SUV, was unveiled on Tuesday with a discounted starting price of RMB 109,800 ($15,460). Its official starting price is RMB 113,800, reflecting an 8.79 percent reduction from the RMB 123,800 pre-sale price announced two weeks earlier. Arcfox is offering three EREV variants priced at RMB 113,800, RMB 119,800, and RMB 131,800, while the BEV lineup includes four models ranging from RMB 123,800 to RMB 158,800.

The vehicle measures 4,760 mm in length, 1,936 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a 2,845 mm wheelbase — 70 mm longer than its predecessor. The Alpha T5 EREV is Arcfox’s first extended-range model and the first to feature BAIC’s Shenqing range extender system.

It combines a 1.5-liter engine with a 200-kW electric motor capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The model uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries offering a 215-km pure electric range and a total driving range of up to 1,215 km when fully charged and fueled.

For BEV variants, Arcfox provides two power options — 185 kW and 200 kW — allowing 0–100 km/h acceleration in 7.5 seconds. These models use batteries supplied by CATL (HKG: 3750), delivering ranges of 560 km, 660 km, or 705 km, depending on configuration. Built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform, the updated Alpha T5 BEV supports 5C ultra-fast charging for rapid energy replenishment.

Arcfox, one of China’s early entrants into the EV market, previously focused solely on BEVs. After limited sales performance and reduced reporting since 2021, the brand appears to be reinvigorating its lineup. The company’s previous model launch occurred just last month, introducing the compact T1 EV starting at RMB 62,800, signaling a renewed effort to compete in the country’s increasingly crowded EV market.
