Arcfox, the electric vehicle (EV) unit of Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has officially launched the T1 compact SUV, entering China’s budget EV segment with one of the lowest starting prices on the market.

The T1 debuted on Wednesday with a starting price of RMB 62,800 ($8,820). Arcfox is offering five variants priced between RMB 62,800 and RMB 87,800. The five-seat model measures 4,337 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,572 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.

The launch generated strong initial demand, with Arcfox reporting 26,558 firm orders within 12 hours. The T1 is expected to compete with rivals such as BYD’s Dolphin, which has similar dimensions and targets the same compact EV market segment.

The T1 comes with two front-wheel-drive motor options rated at 70 kW and 95 kW, paired with battery packs of 33.4 kWh and 42.3 kWh. These configurations deliver CLTC ranges of 320 km and 425 km, respectively. The vehicle supports DC fast charging, with charging from 30% to 80% achievable in 16 minutes.

Inside, the model features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital dashboard. The SUV first appeared at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show in April, with production vehicles beginning to roll off the assembly line in August.

Arcfox was among the earliest EV startups in China but has struggled with weak performance in recent years. The brand has disclosed limited sales data since 2021, following more regular reporting in 2020.
