Amazon has officially launched its first fleet of Rivian-built electric delivery vans in Canada, deploying 50 vehicles to serve the Greater Vancouver area. The milestone marks the partnership’s first major move north of the U.S. border and underscores Amazon’s broader push to reach net-zero carbon emissions across all operations by 2040.

“We’re so excited to launch our first major step toward decarbonizing our delivery fleet in Canada,” said Eva Lorenz, Vice President and Country Manager for Amazon Canada. The vans will operate from Amazon’s delivery station in Delta, British Columbia, supporting two local Delivery Service Partners.

Amazon already operates more than 25,000 Rivian vans across the United States and over 35,000 electric vehicles worldwide, which have collectively delivered 1.5 billion packages. The company aims to have 100,000 Rivian-built vans in operation globally by 2030. Rivian’s Vice President of B2B Growth, Tom Solomon, emphasized the significance of the expansion: “We built this van to be the ultimate fleet vehicle—with safety, comfort, and sustainability in mind.”

British Columbia’s clean energy grid—powered by more than 90% renewable electricity from hydro and wind—makes it an ideal testing ground for the zero-emission fleet. To support its growing operations, Amazon has installed more than 32,000 electric vehicle chargers across 180 delivery stations in North America.
