UK agricultural distributor Agrii has added the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 to its fleet, becoming one of the first operators in the country to deploy the long-range electric heavy goods vehicle. The vehicle, supplied by Midlands Truck & Van, underwent extensive full-load testing on Agrii’s existing delivery routes before entering service.

The eActros 600 offers a range exceeding 500 kilometres, enabling Agrii to complete its 460 km nightly delivery circuit on a single charge. The company estimates the vehicle will help cut around 59 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year based on its typical 60,000 km annual mileage. The zero-emission truck also reduces noise pollution during night-time operations in rural areas.

“It’s almost unnatural to think a truck that size can be electric and achieve such a distance on one charge,” said Richard Pinnock, Agrii’s National Distribution Manager. “Sustainability is an important issue for the agricultural sector, and adopting our first electric HGV is a crucial step in reducing our environmental impact.”

The eActros 600 LS ProCabin Stream 4×2 model was chosen after demonstrating reliable performance across Agrii’s regular delivery network. Its battery capacity and load efficiency allowed it to complete demanding routes with reserve charge remaining, confirming its suitability for long-haul operations.

The deployment builds on Agrii’s decade-long partnership with Midlands Truck & Van, which has supported the company’s transition to more efficient and environmentally friendly fleet technologies. “It’s been a pleasure to work with Agrii on this transition,” said Amit Verma, Truck Sales Executive at Midlands Truck & Van. “Delivering the first eActros 600 to Agrii is a proud moment for everyone involved.”

Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK, said the vehicle’s introduction demonstrates that electric long-haul transport is moving from concept to commercial reality. “Agrii’s adoption of the eActros 600 shows that electric long-haul transport is ready for real-world operations,” he said. “With its 500 km+ range and proven capability, the eActros 600 enables forward-thinking operators like Agrii to meet sustainability targets without compromising on productivity.”
