Nio, a China-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, lowered its delivery target for the fourth quarter of this year due to supply chain disruptions stemming from the Covid-19 outbreak.
Reporting from CNBC, Nio hopes to be able to deliver 38,500 to 39,500 electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of this year, down from the initial estimate of 43,000 to 48,000 EV units.
Meanwhile, the company’s shares decreased by more than 8 percent on Tuesday (27/12/2022).
In a statement, Nio apologized to its customers for delays in EV shipments due to supply chain disruptions.
On the other hand, Nio recorded an increase in production and sales in the third quarter of this year. The company reported a 33 percent increase in revenue over the previous year and continues to project strong demand for its new models.
Nio itself has just introduced its newest EV models, namely the EC7 and ES8. The presentation of the two models was carried out at the Nio Day 2022 event which took place in Beijing, China on Saturday (24/12/2022).
The EC7 electric SUV has a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that produces a combined power of 644 hp (480 kW / 653 PS) and 626 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque.
Meanwhile, the ES8 is the flagship model of the Nio electric SUV which has a carrying capacity of six passengers. The design concept uses the “Design for AD” and “Pure-Tec” languages. ES8 uses two driving motors with a total power of 480 kW. This electric SUV can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
Both ES8 and EC7 have used PanoCinema digital cockcpit technology which carries NOMI’s AI technology. Quality sound comes out of the Dolby Atmos sound system, ambient light, and 12. inch AMOLED screen as the center of the setting. Nio also provides AR and VR touch to provide a digital space experience for passengers.
The two electric SUVs are planned to begin shipping to customers in June next year.
