Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) have completed a new factory for their jointly created automotive brand, Maextro, as they prepare for the launch of its first luxury model, the Maextro S800 sedan.

The factory, located in Hefei, Anhui province, where JAC is headquartered, was officially completed on December 16. A ceremony marking the event was attended by executives from JAC and Huawei, as well as local officials, according to JAC’s statement.

The facility is described as a state-of-the-art smart factory, incorporating advanced automation and artificial intelligence technologies. It houses nearly 1,500 robots to automate critical processes such as welding, painting, and assembly. “The factory is expected to have an annual output value exceeding RMB 100 billion ($13.7 billion) when it reaches full production,” said Xiang Xingchu, chairman and general manager of JAC.

Huawei introduced the Maextro brand as part of its Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) initiative, marking its fourth collaboration with a local carmaker. Maextro joins Stelato, co-developed with BAIC Group, Aito with Seres Group, and Luxeed with Chery.

The Maextro S800, unveiled on November 26, targets the luxury executive sedan market with a price range of RMB 1 million to RMB 1.5 million. Prospective buyers can place a reservation with an intentional deposit of RMB 20,000, according to Huawei.

The sedan measures 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,370 mm. It is offered in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions. Powertrain options include dual-motor and tri-motor configurations. The dual-motor variant delivers 160 kW at the front and 230 kW at the rear, while the tri-motor version enhances rear power to 237.5 kW for both motors.

The Maextro S800 was recently listed in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology regulatory filing catalog, signaling progress toward its market launch.
