Tesla is developing new parking features for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) suite, including the ability to park in residential garages, according to Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s Head of Autopilot and AI.
The update is part of Tesla’s broader efforts to refine its autonomous driving capabilities and bring fully autonomous rides closer to reality. The company has made significant progress with the release of FSD version 13.2, which has been well-received by users for its robustness and performance since its launch in late November.
While FSD can already navigate parking garages, parking in residential garages remains a gap in its functionality. Tesla’s ongoing development aims to address this limitation, although the company has not announced a specific timeline for the feature’s release.
We are working on parking options, including garages.

Feedback on FSD’s latest iteration has been largely positive. Elluswamy noted the importance of incremental updates in achieving Tesla’s vision of autonomous mobility, including the eventual launch of Robotaxi services. Even rival automaker BMW acknowledged the suite’s performance as “very impressive” in a social media post, though the comment was later removed.
As Tesla continues to innovate, its advancements in self-driving technology remain under close industry scrutiny, with consumers eager for features that enhance convenience and bring the company closer to delivering fully autonomous vehicles.
