BYD’s Dynasty lineup is on track to achieve record sales this year, with expectations to exceed 2 million units, according to Lu Tian, head of sales for the Dynasty series. As of the end of October, the lineup has already sold more than 1.58 million units, accounting for nearly half of the company’s total sales during the same period.
In an interview with local media outlet Dongchedi, Lu highlighted that the Dynasty series is poised to surpass the previous all-time record for annual sales of fuel vehicles in China, which was set by SAIC-Volkswagen at 1.73 million units in 2017. “This year, the Dynasty series should break past that all-time record,” Lu stated. By the end of November, the lineup is expected to surpass SAIC Volkswagen’s peak sales, further cementing BYD’s dominance in the Chinese market.
BYD’s impressive performance extends across its entire new energy vehicle (NEV) portfolio. The company sold 502,657 NEVs in October, marking the first time it exceeded 500,000 units in a single month and continuing a streak of record high sales for five consecutive months. In particular, the Dynasty series posted sales of 251,090 units in October, a 82.18% increase compared to the same period last year.
For the January-October period, BYD’s total NEV sales reached 3,250,532 units, up 36.49% year-on-year. Of this, the Dynasty series contributed 1,588,562 units, accounting for 48.87% of total sales, while the Ocean series, which focuses on marine-themed models, contributed 1,493,193 units, representing 45.94% of sales.
