Tesla has now made its highly anticipated Cybertruck available for immediate purchase, marking a notable shift from its once enormous backlog of reservations. For the first time, customers can purchase the electric pickup from Tesla’s inventory list, with select locations offering the option to drive away with a Cybertruck in just a matter of days. This development comes after years of hype and a two-million-strong reservation list that once surpassed the valuation of entire automakers like BMW.
Currently, the inventory includes the higher-end Foundation Series AWD and tri-motor “Cyberbeast” versions of the Cybertruck, with prices starting below $80,000. This could suggest that the vehicles available in inventory are either canceled orders or excess stock that Tesla is working to clear. Notably, these versions lack some of the premium features found in the top-tier Foundation Series, which is priced at $100,000 and includes the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) option, valued at an additional $8,000, along with other high-end interior and exterior features.
Despite the swift availability, Tesla’s move to offer the Cybertruck directly from inventory indicates a shift in the vehicle’s demand. The once towering preorder list has significantly diminished, and while the Cybertruck remains the third-best-selling electric vehicle in the U.S., its rapid stockpiling may signal a broader trend in the electric pickup market that could be challenging for competitors to navigate.
For those eager to own a Cybertruck without waiting for the long preorder process, Tesla’s inventory list now presents an opportunity to purchase one immediately—albeit with some trade-offs in terms of the available configurations and features.
