Tesla Boosts Range for Select Model Y and Model 3 Variants

Tesla has quietly introduced a modest range increase for some Model Y and Model 3 configurations, marking a slight but notable improvement for drivers seeking more mileage per charge.

The Model Y Long Range Dual Motor variant, Tesla’s best-seller, has seen its range rise from 308 to 311 miles, a 1% increase. Although incremental, this change may signal underlying modifications, as Tesla is known for implementing adjustments throughout the year, rather than waiting for new model releases.

It remains unclear whether this range increase results from enhanced battery efficiency, improvements in energy management, or adjustments in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) multiplier used to estimate range.

Tesla’s Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor variant with 19-inch wheels also experienced a range boost, going from 305 to 316 miles. This update only affects Model 3 versions with 19-inch wheels, which may indicate that the change is linked to new EPA cycle testing rather than changes to the powertrain or battery technology.

Looking ahead, Tesla’s Model Y is anticipated to undergo a “Juniper” design refresh in early 2024, which could introduce further performance and range enhancements.
