Xpeng has reported a record delivery of electric vehicles (EVs) in September, attributed largely to the success of the Mona M03, the first model in its new lineup. The company delivered 21,352 vehicles during the month, marking a year-on-year increase of 39.46% and a month-over-month rise of 52.12%, according to data released today.
In its first full month of deliveries, the Mona M03 surpassed 10,000 units, although the company did not disclose an exact figure. For the third quarter, Xpeng delivered a total of 46,533 vehicles, exceeding its guidance range of 41,000 to 45,000 units. This represents a year-on-year increase of 16.31% and a sequential growth of 54.05% compared to the second quarter.
Year-to-date, Xpeng has delivered 98,561 vehicles, reflecting a 21.02% increase over the previous year. Cumulative deliveries since the company’s inception have reached 498,872 vehicles, approaching the milestone of 500,000 units.
The Mona M03 electric sedan was officially launched on August 27, with a starting price of RMB 119,800 ($16,880), making it the company’s most affordable model, priced at approximately half of the Tesla Model 3. On the first day of the Chengdu auto show on August 30, Xpeng delivered the Mona M03 to its initial owners and announced that it had received over 30,000 firm orders for the vehicle within the first 48 hours of its launch.
The Mona M03 has gained traction due to its competitive pricing and an array of superior features, leading to a significant increase in orders since its launch. Xpeng, along with its supply chain partners, is working to scale up production of the Mona M03 to meet the growing demand.
Looking ahead, Xpeng plans to introduce the P7+, an AI-defined vehicle, in October. The company will also showcase its advanced AI technologies and new model lineup at the 2024 Paris Auto Show, scheduled from October 14 to 21.
