Tesla has unveiled its highly anticipated Quicksilver paint option for the reengineered Model 3 sedan manufactured at its Giga Shanghai facility, marking a significant expansion in customization offerings for consumers in the region.

Priced at RMB 12,000 ($1,650), the Quicksilver paint, previously exclusive to Tesla’s Model Y units produced at Giga Berlin, promises to deliver a visually stunning experience with its metallic sheen that subtly shifts in color depending on lighting and viewing angles.

The introduction of Quicksilver for the Model 3 sedan underscores Tesla’s strategy to enhance consumer choice and appeal in the competitive electric vehicle market. Available now on Tesla’s order page in China, the paint option mirrors the intricate craftsmanship seen in its Giga Berlin counterpart, utilizing an advanced process that incorporates up to 13 layers to achieve depth and a hand-painted aesthetic.

Tesla’s decision to expand the availability of Quicksilver follows its success with the Model Y produced at Giga Shanghai and, more recently, Giga Texas, where the option garnered significant popularity among consumers. Aerial footage from China suggests a strong initial reception, indicating potential for the paint option to resonate equally well with Model 3 sedan buyers seeking a blend of style and performance.

With the reengineered Model 3 sedan now featuring Quicksilver, Tesla aims to further differentiate its offerings in the premium electric vehicle segment, highlighting the importance of aesthetic appeal alongside technological innovation.
