Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has disclosed plans for the rollout of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) suite on the Tesla Cybertruck, targeting a release in late June. Despite being on the market for about six months, the Cybertruck has yet to receive the FSD feature, a key aspect of Tesla’s autonomous driving technology.
The delay in equipping the Cybertruck with FSD is attributed to the vehicle’s unique features, such as the steer-by-wire system and camera positioning, which differ significantly from other models in Tesla’s lineup.
Musk’s recent comments indicate that Tesla is prepared to introduce FSD on the Cybertruck. He mentioned that the next FSD release, version 12.4, will undergo internal testing this weekend and will be available to a limited number of external beta testers next week. Musk stated that version 12.4 will offer substantial improvements, aiming for a “5x to 10x improvement” in miles per intervention compared to the current version.

However, the Cybertruck will skip version 12.4 and directly receive version 12.5, which Musk confirmed in a post on X. He stated, “12.5 will be out in late June. Will also see a major improvement in mpi and is single stack – no more implicit stack on highways.”
The introduction of FSD on the Cybertruck will be a significant milestone for Tesla, marking the first rollout of this technology on such a vehicle. This development poses a unique challenge, but Tesla is expected to navigate it successfully, potentially paving the way for future expansions into other vehicle types.
