LG Electronics Inc. has showcased its range of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions optimized for various settings, including homes, commercial spaces, and charging stations, at the 2024 EV Trend Korea exhibition.
This marks the first time the South Korean home appliances maker has displayed its complete lineup of EV chargers since entering the market last year. The lineup includes a 7-kilowatt (kW) slow charger and two types of fast chargers with capacities of 100 kW and 200 kW.
At the three-day EV exposition, LG Electronics set up a 180 square-meter exhibition booth featuring design concepts for housing, commercial areas, and charging stations.
The 7kW residential charger can be wall-mounted or placed on a stand and features a touch screen interface for user convenience.
The 100kW fast charger showcased at the exhibition can simultaneously charge two vehicles and is suitable for use in public parking lots at locations such as shopping malls, hospitals, and restaurants. Both the 100kW and 200kW chargers are equipped with 24-inch displays that show the charging status and can display advertisements for promotional events.
LG Electronics ensures stable charging performance in extreme temperatures, with the chargers capable of operating in conditions as cold as 25 degrees below zero Celsius or as hot as 40 degrees Celsius.
The company’s foray into the automotive electronics market aligns with its goal to transition into a platform-based technology company by 2030. LG Electronics began domestic production of EV chargers last year and expanded its manufacturing footprint with the opening of its first overseas EV charger factory in Fort Worth, Texas, in January this year.
To enhance its EV charger service in South Korea, LG Electronics has bolstered its customer service arm, Hiteleservice Co., doubling its staff and extending its business hours to late nights and weekends.
LG Electronics aims to achieve 100 trillion won ($75 billion) in annual sales by 2030, building upon its highest-ever annual revenue of 84.28 trillion won in 2023, as announced by Chief Executive Cho Joo-wan last year.
