BYD, the prominent new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has launched the Yuan Plus Glory Edition, marking yet another significant update to its model lineup. Priced at RMB 119,800 ($16,650), the starting price of the new model is RMB 16,000 lower than its predecessor, the Champion Edition, representing an 11.78 percent reduction.
Initially introduced to the Chinese market in February 2022, the Yuan Plus is BYD’s first SUV under the all-electric platform, e-platform 3.0. It also stands as the company’s inaugural model designed for the global market, having already been released under the Atto 3 moniker in various international markets.

In the previous round of updates, BYD introduced several Champion Edition models, including the Yuan Plus Champion Edition launched in September 2023. Following the 2024 Chinese New Year holiday, the company has now introduced the Glory Edition.
The Yuan Plus Glory Edition offers five variants with prices ranging from RMB 119,800 to RMB 147,800. In comparison, the previous Champion Edition also featured five versions with prices starting from RMB 135,800 to RMB 163,800.
The new Glory Edition boasts additional options, such as black exterior and interior choices, as well as enhanced support for continuous voice calling within the cockpit, according to BYD.
Despite these updates, the core specifications of the Yuan Plus remain unchanged, including dimensions of 4,455 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

The Glory Edition retains the same battery packs as the Champion Edition, with the more affordable models equipped with a 49.92 kWh pack providing a range of 430 kilometers. The higher-tier versions are powered by a 60.48 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 510 kilometers.
Powered by a single motor with a peak power of 150 kW and peak torque of 310 Nm, the Yuan Plus can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
The Yuan Plus Glory Edition is the latest in a series of updates by BYD, following a trend of introducing updated models almost daily last week.
