Amazon and Hyundai revealed plans to commence the online sale of Hyundai vehicles in the U.S. beginning next year. Under the new agreement, customers will have the convenience of browsing, configuring, and purchasing a Hyundai car directly through Amazon.com. Once the transaction is completed, buyers can schedule delivery through a local Hyundai dealer.
This collaboration represents an expansion of a deal initially disclosed two years ago, aimed at enhancing Hyundai’s digital showroom on Amazon.com. The original partnership allowed customers to configure vehicles, calculate prices, and locate dealers to finalize purchases. Hyundai had established its first digital showroom on Amazon in 2018.
The updated agreement, announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show, not only streamlines the online purchasing process but also introduces the integration of Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant into new Hyundai vehicles by 2025. This move aligns with the broader industry trend of incorporating voice-activated technologies into automotive interfaces.
Hyundai Motor CEO Jay Chang expressed optimism about the expanded partnership, stating, “Partnering with one of the world’s most customer-centric organizations unlocks incredible opportunities as we continue to expand our portfolio, grow our sales network, transition to electrification, and realize the future of smart mobility.” The collaboration positions both companies at the forefront of adapting to evolving consumer preferences and the digital transformation of the automotive retail experience.
