In a groundbreaking move at its 4th annual Hon Hai Tech Day, Foxconn, the renowned technology conglomerate, has introduced the world to its latest creation: the MODEL N electric cargo van. This innovative vehicle showcases a ‘tap and unload’ one-button design, triggering automatic cargo compartment boarding steps, safety warning projection lights on all sides, and the seamless opening of the electric rear rolling door. At the same event, Foxconn also hinted at plans for mass production of the sporty and intelligent MODEL B crossover, featuring a 15.6-inch in-vehicle infotainment screen and cutting-edge ultra-wideband communication technology for digital keys.
Foxconn’s ambitions do not end there; they have solidified their partnerships with NVIDIA and ZF Group to revolutionize the automotive industry. The Foxconn Smart EV will be constructed on the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion 9 platform, the next-generation platform for autonomous automotive fleets. This platform is powered by NVIDIA DRIVE Thor, reinforcing Foxconn’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technology.
The ZF Group, a German automotive supplier, will provide essential e-mobility and advanced chassis solutions, bolstering Foxconn’s technological arsenal. This partnership is set to usher in an era of expanded product ranges, encompassing both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles.
Foxconn Chairman and CEO, Young Liu, expressed their vision: “With the new MODEL N electric cargo van, we demonstrate a full range of vertically integrated capabilities. Traditional automotive companies can tap into all of these. In three short years, Foxconn has displayed a remarkable range of high-end sedan, passenger crossover, SUV, compact pick-up, commercial bus, and commercial van.”
NVIDIA Founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, weighed in, stating, “A new type of manufacturing has emerged – the production of intelligence, and the data centers that produce them are AI factories. Foxconn, the world’s largest manufacturer, has the expertise and scale to build AI factories globally. We are delighted to expand our decade-long partnership with Foxconn to accelerate the AI industrial revolution.”
ZF Group CEO, Holger Klein, also shared his perspective on this transformative collaboration: “In the future, the two companies will make full use of each other’s capabilities to expand their product range in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles. ZF Group has been operating in Taiwan since 1988, and our business partnership with Hon Hai will further strengthen our presence in the Asia-Pacific region and globally as we move towards Next Generation Mobility.”
As Foxconn continues to push the boundaries of innovation and establish critical partnerships, it is evident that the automotive industry is on the brink of a new era, one driven by intelligence and cutting-edge technology.
