Lancia has revealed its electrification-centric strategy for the next decade, commencing with the debut of a new Ypsilon model in 2024. The roadmap then proceeds with the launch of the Gamma EV flagship in 2026 and concludes with the introduction of an all-electric Delta in 2028.
The Italian automaker has confirmed that the forthcoming Ypsilon will be available in both fully electric and hybrid versions. However, starting in 2026, Lancia plans to exclusively launch electric vehicles (EVs). By 2028, the entire product range will consist of electric models, suggesting that the hybrid Ypsilon will only be in production for four years.
In 2026, the brand is slated to release its first dedicated electric vehicle, which will be manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Melfi, Italy. The vehicle will measure approximately 185 inches long, making it akin in size to the BMW 4-series. Lanciaâs CEO, Luca Napolitano, described the car as an elegant fastback that will utilize the STLA medium platform. He also confirmed the revival of the Gamma nameplate, stating, âOur second flagship car, slated to debut in 2026, will be named âGamma.ââ
Napolitano further elaborated on the flagship vehicle, saying, “The flagship of Casa Lancia will be a beautiful and elegant Italian car, beautiful outside and beautiful inside, where it will really look like you feel in the living room of an Italian house.â The STLA Medium platform will underpin the model, offering versions with both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.
Lancia anticipates that the flagship Gamma model will offer up to 435 miles (700 km) of range on a single charge. The company also expects half of the electric vehicleâs sales to come from European countries outside Italy.
Although limited information has been disclosed about the 2028 Delta model, Napolitano has previously confirmed its return in talks with Italian media. He noted that the Delta will embody the essence of progress and technology and will be fully electric.
Lancia’s electric shift is a key component of parent company Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategy, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2038. With this roadmap, Lancia has made its intentions clear: the brand is fully committing to an electric future.
