Aito, the energy vehicle (NEV) brand backed by tech behemoth Huawei, has recently commenced pre-sales for its eagerly anticipated flagship SUV, the Aito M9. The official launch of this high-tech vehicle is scheduled for the end of this year, promising to usher in a new era of smart, electric mobility.
Enthusiasts and prospective buyers can now secure their spot by placing a pre-order with a pre-order entitlement fee of 5,000 Chinese yuan ($680), as showcased on the dedicated Aito M9 page on Huawei’s online store.
The Aito M9 will be available in two electrifying versions: an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and a battery electric vehicle (BEV), both boasting an attractive expected starting price range of 500,000 to 600,000 Chinese yuan.
While detailed specifications for the Aito M9 are yet to be unveiled, the model’s page tantalizingly hints at a fourth-quarter release, promising cutting-edge features and innovations.
Speaking at a recent product launch event, Richar Yu, Chairman of Huawei’s smart vehicle solutions business unit, confirmed the Aito M9’s anticipated debut in December. Yu boldly asserted that the Aito M9 would claim the title of the most powerful SUV priced under 10 million Chinese yuan, promising a vehicle that will turn heads on the streets.
The Aito M9 is set to showcase Huawei’s smart car full-stack technology solutions, presenting a refreshing new family design and an expansive interior space comparable to that of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). While Yu refrained from disclosing further details, the Aito M9 had already made its mark by being included in a recent draft regulatory catalog released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
According to the MIIT filing, the Aito M9 boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 5,230 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase extending to 3,110 mm.
For the EREV version, power is derived from a 1,499 ml engine generating 112 kW, complemented by dual electric motors with peak power outputs of 165 kW and 200 kW, respectively. Meanwhile, the Aito M9 BEV relies on dual electric motors supplied by Huawei, providing a robust 160 kW and 230 kW of power at the front and rear motors, respectively. The model is further energized by ternary lithium-ion batteries supplied by CATL, ensuring a sustainable and efficient ride.
