The Yamaha Motor Company will launch a new electric scooter for the Asian and European markets in 2022. Yamaha’s plan to deliver environmentally friendly vehicles will start by offering a small electric scooter in Europe.

When viewed from the appearance of the concept, the design of the E01 looks more sporty with gray yellow stripes on several sides, sloping seats, and footrests that offer a more relaxed driving position.
Although it has not been officially confirmed, the Yamaha E01 and E02 have similar performance to conventional scooters with 125cc and 50cc engines. This electric scooter is likely to implement a replaceable battery system or swap battery.
Chief Executive Officer of Yamaha Motor Company Yoshihiro Hidaka said the planned launch of this new electric scooter is a step to face the global electric scooter market which is said to be growing by 33 percent from this year to 2030.

“There is a strong demand for electric scooters from Europe. City structures are changing and they are not going back (to pre-pandemic times),” Hidaka said.
Hidaka also said that Yamaha will focus its resources and investment on the environmentally friendly vehicle business. Hidaka believes that there will be a time when electric vehicles will be cheaper than petrol vehicles.
