BrightDrop commenced its operations in the United States in 2021, aiming to contribute to decarbonisation efforts while delivering practical advantages to major brands. Subsequently, it expanded into the Canadian market in late 2022, experiencing noteworthy demand and recognition. The electric vans offered by BrightDrop are manufactured at GM’s CAMI Assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, which is recognised as the nation’s primary large-scale electric vehicle manufacturing facility. Production of the Zevo 600 is progressing swiftly after a rapid plant conversion, with production of the Zevo 400 set to commence in the coming months.
BrightDrop’s entry into the Mexican market is anticipated to foster the adoption of electric vehicle fleets within the country. Customers in Mexico will have the opportunity to place orders for BrightDrop’s Zevo electric vans later this year, granting them access to advanced safety features, convenient functionalities, and remarkable ranges tailored to their operational needs.
Steve Hornyak, Chief Commercial Officer at BrightDrop, emphasised the significance of this expansion, noting that it is part of the company’s global efforts to promote emission reduction in deliveries and facilitate the transition to electric mobility for customers. He highlighted the potential environmental and economic benefits that electric fleets can offer, emphasising the importance of making the shift as seamless as possible.
Paco Garza, President and Managing Director of GM Mexico, echoed these sentiments, expressing the introduction of these advanced vehicles to the Mexican market. He highlighted their advanced safety features, convenience, and industry-leading range as attributes that could resonate well with customers in the region. Garza added that this step aligns with GM’s overarching commitment to achieving a zero-emissions future.
