ElDorado National (California) (ENC), a subsidiary of REV Group, Inc., has recently secured a notable order from Foothill Transit, a public transit provider in California. The order includes 19 Axess EVO-FC hydrogen fuel cell buses, further solidifying Foothill Transit’s commitment to operating a fully zero-emissions bus fleet.
Foothill Transit serves the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys in Southern California, encompassing Pasadena and downtown Los Angeles. With a current fleet of 359 buses, which already includes zero-emission models, the addition of the Axess EVO-FC buses will contribute to their ongoing sustainability efforts.
The Axess EVO-FC buses stand out with their exceptional features, powered by the industry’s highest capacity fuel cell and the BAE Systems® Gen3 electric propulsion system. These buses offer an impressive range of up to 400 miles, setting a new standard in the industry. Notably, they can be refueled in just 12 to 20 minutes, and their only emission is water. ENC, a renowned leader in low or no emission technology, previously achieved a significant milestone in 2018 when it became the first bus manufacturer to complete the 12-year/500,000-mile FTA Altoona test for a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric-powered bus.
Mike Ammann, Vice President of Sales at ENC, expressed his enthusiasm about the addition of the Axess EVO-FC to Foothill Transit’s zero-emissions fleet. He stated, “ENC continues to lead the industry in next-generation alternative fuel buses that help transit authorities across the country operate in a more sustainable way.”
This order signifies another step forward in the adoption of clean and sustainable transportation solutions, highlighting the progress made in the field of heavy-duty transit buses and emission-free technology. ENC’s partnership with Foothill Transit serves as a prime example of the ongoing efforts to create a greener and more environmentally friendly public transportation system.
