Texas-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Ayro has recently announced that its all-electric Vanish mini truck is now available for pre-order in the United States and Canada. Customers can secure their orders by visiting the company’s website and paying a refundable fee of $250.
The Ayro Vanish is categorized as a low-speed electric vehicle (LSEV) and is designed to accommodate two passengers. The non-street-legal variant of the Vanish boasts a maximum payload capacity of 1,800 pounds (816 kilograms). While the vehicle is primarily marketed as an ideal option for campuses, last-mile deliveries, and micro distribution, its pricing has raised some eyebrows.
Starting at $33,900, the Vanish’s base price caught immediate attention. It’s worth noting that this starting price does not include additional features such as doors or a heater. Ayro offers three different configurations for customers to choose from—flatbed, pickup bed, and van box—which are conveniently interchangeable. However, due to its classification as a low-speed vehicle, the road-legal version of the Vanish has a top speed of 25 miles per hour (40 kilometers per hour), while the non-street-legal version is limited to just 20 mph (32 kph).
The Vanish is equipped with an axial flux electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. While specific technical details regarding the motor and battery have not been disclosed, Ayro claims that the LSEV can achieve a driving range “greater than 50 miles based on a full charge.” In terms of charging options, the Vanish can be charged using a 110-volt 20-amp outlet and is also compatible with J1772 charging.
The vehicle features disc brakes on all wheels, electronic power-assisted steering, independent suspension on the front axle, and a solid axle on the rear, which houses the electric motor. Standard features include regenerative braking and hill descent control, while optional extras include a rearview camera, digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, and air conditioning.
Measuring 155 inches (3.9 meters) in length, less than 60 inches (1.5 meters) in width, and less than 76 inches (1.7 meters) in height, the Ayro Vanish offers a towing capacity of 1,150 lbs (521 kg). The non-street-legal variant boasts a higher towing capacity of 1,800 lbs (816 kg), whereas the street-legal version can carry up to 1,200 lbs (544 kg).
According to Ayro, the Vanish fills the gap between full-size trucks and golf carts. Its compact dimensions make it well-suited for maneuvering through narrow pathways and double doors.
