German e-mobility firm Quantron AG and Norwegian Hydrogen, a leading producer of green hydrogen and operator of hydrogen refuelling stations, have announced a strategic collaboration to introduce hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in Scandinavia. This five-year partnership will help accelerate the transition towards zero-emission logistics in Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark.
Under the partnership, Norwegian Hydrogen will be Quantron’s preferred hydrogen supplier in Scandinavia, providing green hydrogen through its production facilities. A new subsidiary called Vireon will operate H2 filling stations in the region. Quantron will take care of the provision of H2 trucks in these countries.

Quantron’s QHM FCEV heavy-duty truck is capable of covering a range of up to 1,500 km, depending on customer requirements, making it ideal for long-distance transport. Through the partnership with Norwegian Hydrogen, Quantron wants to offer its business model called Quantron-as-a-Service to Scandinavia. Customers can have the entire ecosystem for hydrogen logistics provided as a service without high acquisition costs.
CEO of Quantron, Michael Perschke, said, “Our goal is to offer comprehensive solutions that not only include the vehicles themselves, but also energy deliveries and the necessary infrastructure. In Norwegian Hydrogen, we have found an excellent partner to achieve our ambitions in the Nordic market.”
Norwegian Hydrogen has established a dedicated subsidiary called Vireon to build a network of hydrogen refuelling stations along major transportation corridors across the Nordic region. Jens Berge, CEO of Norwegian Hydrogen, said, “The agreement with Quantron represents a substantial contribution to our ambitious growth strategy. It is also a great recognition to be selected as a strategic partner by such an innovative and leading company as Quantron.”

The recently founded subsidiary Vireon is already engaged in building H2 refuelling stations for heavy commercial vehicles in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. It is set to be positioned as the “leading hydrogen filling station operator in the Nordic countries for heavy-duty vehicles”.
This partnership is a significant step forward in the pursuit of sustainable transportation and logistics in the Nordic region. With Quantron’s advanced H2 trucks and Norwegian Hydrogen’s expertise in producing and distributing green hydrogen, the two companies have the potential to revolutionize the heavy-duty trucking industry in Scandinavia.
