Rivian, the American electric vehicle manufacturer, has released a short documentary titled “Zero to Rally,” showcasing its preparations for the 2022 Rebelle Rally. The video follows four Rivian employees, Lillian Macaruso, Alex Anderson, Rosanna Nuch, and Nicole Johnson, on their journey to participate in the event with two all-electric vehicles: a R1T pickup and a R1S SUV.
The Rebelle Rally is the first women’s off-road navigation rally raid in the United States, covering 1,600 miles over eight days. Rivian’s team, comprised entirely of women, competed as rookies in last year’s event, using stock vehicles and relying only on paper maps, a compass, and the provided road book for navigation.
The documentary highlights the unique experiences of each team member, showcasing their passion for cars and off-road driving. In 2022, Rivian is giving every female employee in the United States the opportunity to compete in a factory vehicle, with training scheduled to begin in mid-April.
Last year, Rivian’s R1T and its team finished in fourth place overall and received the Rookie of the Year award, while the R1S finished 20th out of 45 participants. This year, Rivian aims to continue its success at the Rebelle Rally and empower more women to participate in the competition.
Rivian’s commitment to promoting female empowerment and participation in traditionally male-dominated industries is evident through its participation in the Rebelle Rally. This is not the first time a Rivian vehicle has participated in the event, as Emme Hall and Rebecca Donaghe entered with an R1T in 2020.
Overall, Rivian’s “Zero to Rally” documentary highlights the company’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and promoting diversity and inclusion in the automotive industry. As the Rebelle Rally approaches in October, we look forward to seeing Rivian’s female employees take on the challenge and showcase the capabilities of electric vehicles in off-road racing.
